A Day in the Life of a Project Manager

A Day in the Life of a Project Manager

Welcome back for another entry in the series “A Day in the Life of...” where we take a moment to explore the different roles and positions at Legend Web Works, and what those employees have learned during their time in their specific position.

Join us as we chat with Alyssa DeWitt to learn more about her position as a Project Manager and how she makes a difference for our clients every day!

A Day in the Life of Project Manager

What is your role and how long have you been in the role?

I am the project manager, which means I facilitate all the communication between the development & design team, and our clients' wants and needs for their website. I have been in the role for just over 18 months.

What do you do on a typical day?

On a typical day, I can have any number of items to complete. Each day usually consists of reviewing work from our team, following up with client communications, or conducting client meetings either in person or via Teams.

What is the first thing you do in the morning?

First thing in the morning, I typically go through tasks that the development team has been working on, review the work completed, and send to clients to review, or I review tasks and send them to the appropriate person on the development team (or other teams like support and marketing) to complete.

I make sure that all of the people I manage have updated and full task lists for the day, and that we are prepared for any meetings that are on the schedule for the day!

What are some of the things that make your job unique?

The first thing that makes my job unique is that I can create relationships with my clients & work with them to build their ideal website while also learning new things about the technology side as well.

I need to provide excellent customer service and communication for my clients, but I also need to have a decent understanding of the technology side as well, from updating DNS and transferring domains, to understanding the complexities that comes with customized work.

What are some of the challenges you face in your role?

Some of the challenges that I face in my role is keeping up to date on technology updates that affect both the front & back side of our websites. Technology is ALWAYS changing, as we all know!

Learning from the Legend Team

There are many unique positions that make up the Legend Web Works team. Everyone knows something a little bit differently, and it is our collective knowledge that makes us strong.

What did you learn from Alyssa’s experiences and how can her wisdom help you in your career?
